What you can expect
I understand that deciding whether you would like to start counselling can be daunting. However, I can assure you, you are not alone. At some point in our lives we all find ourselves at a point where we could use some help, whether it be a historic issue or something new that you are struggling with
Counselling can help with any and all issues by offering you a safe, judgement free, confidential space where you can express your thoughts and feelings. My approach is to create a compassionate relationship between us by listening and supporting you on your journey of reflecting and exploring your personal feelings and thoughts.
Counselling is essentially a process, an exploration and understanding of your personal thoughts and feelings that can help to bring about your desired change and enable you to gain control over any distress or loss of direction you may be experiencing.
First session
The first session will give us an opportunity to get to know each other and see if you feel comfortable that we can work together. We will have the opportunity to look at what brought you to counselling and discuss with my help how you would like to work together.
I am an integrative therapist which means I am trained in a wide range of counselling theories allowing me to adapt the way I counsel to suit your individual needs.
The sessions are 50 minutes long and usually booked at the same time/day, on a weekly basis.
I am a member of the British association for Counselling and Psychotherapy which means I work within their ethical guidelines to ensure your safety and that you receive a professional standard of service.
